About

Barrow Hill is a village to the North – East of Chesterfield within the Civil Parish of Staveley.

At one time there was a railway station at Barrow Hill which is the home of the Barrow Hill Engine Shed. It was built with a central turntable under cover and was in operation between 1870 and 1991.

Barrow Hill Roundhouse is the last surviving railway roundhouse in the U.K. It was saved by dedicated volunteers and is now a unique museum and events venue.
