About

Netherthorpe is easily accessed from the A619, situated between Staveley Town and Mastin Moor, just west of the River Doe Lea.

It is the home of Staveley’s oldest secondary school dating back to 1572 when four local families, the Frechevilles, the Sitwells, the De Rodes and the Cavendish Family decided to establish a school for the people of Staveley.

The area of Netherthorpe has several buildings on the Historic England Official List as being of significance and importance, including the school.

Inspiring the future

Our local area has many activities and events, run by local organsations and charities with often volunteers giving time to inspire others through enjoyment and a great day out.

Staveley Town Council would love to hear from such organisations who have projects and ideas for events or activity days which would give a positive benefit to others in the community.

This may be in the form of a fair for example, or a community competition or similarly a local project to improve the amenities for all.

If you have such an idea, why not share it with us, or apply for community funding to enable your idea to come to fruition. in the first instance and to find out how we can help, please contact the Town Clerk on: 01246 473132 or email info@staveleytowncouncil.gov.uk
